Interim Government Will Not Waste Time Organizing Elections: Dr. Yunus

Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has assured that the interim government will not waste unnecessary time in organizing the national elections.

He made this statement during a meeting with representatives of various political parties at the state guest house Jamuna on Saturday, August 31, in the afternoon. Party representatives shared this information with the media after the meeting.

According to the leaders, they requested the Chief Advisor to quickly create a conducive electoral environment following necessary reforms.

Dr. Yunus also urged Islamic parties to remain vigilant during the upcoming Durga Puja to ensure that no communal unrest occurs, emphasizing the importance of maintaining communal harmony.

During the discussion, the participating parties presented demands for constitutional reforms, including ensuring a balance of power between the President and the Prime Minister, limiting the Prime Minister’s term to two, and reforming the electoral system.

The leaders also mentioned that the Chief Advisor pledged to resolve all matters within a reasonable timeframe and to guide the country toward elections.

On August 8, following the fall of the Awami League government after the student and public movement on August 5, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
