Body of Former Student Leader Ishak Ali Khan Panna Repatriated Through Tamabil Border

The body of former student leader Ishak Ali Khan Panna has been repatriated to Bangladesh through the Tamabil border in Sylhet.

On Saturday, August 31, at around 11:30 AM, his body was sent back to Bangladesh via the Tamabil immigration checkpoint.

Following a series of formalities, the Meghalaya police transferred Panna’s body to the Bangladeshi authorities at the Tamabil border. Ishak Ali Khan Panna, who was a former General Secretary and an executive committee member of the Pirojpur District Awami League, was killed recently.

The repatriation request was made by Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry after appeals from the deceased’s family.

During the handover, family members of the deceased, including Panna’s nephew Nabil Khan, were present. Officials from the local administration, police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Tamabil Immigration Police, Indian Border Security Force (BSF), and Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills District’s Dawki Police were also present.

It is noted that Ishak Ali Khan Panna died on the night of August 24 while attempting to flee to India through the Dona border in Kanaighat. His semi-decomposed body was recovered by the Umkiang police on August 26 within Indian territory.
