The death toll from the ongoing floods in Bangladesh has risen to 27, with approximately 5.6 million people affected across 11 districts. Farooq E Azam, Adviser to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, provided these figures during a press conference on Tuesday (August 27).
The floods have impacted over 1.2 million families, inundating 74 upazilas and 541 unions and municipalities. The casualties include 10 deaths in Comilla, 5 in Chittagong, 5 in Noakhali, 3 in Cox’s Bazar, and 1 each in Feni, Khagrachari, Brahmanbaria, and Lakshmipur. Authorities continue to manage relief efforts for the affected regions.
